I was checking out a few coins on ebay and came across these pennies that do not look right to me. So, before I make an irrational decision I would like everyone's opinion/advice. All photos are sellers photos. Thank you.

The 68 and 69 look to be proofs. Need closer, clearer pix to determine what you see or question. Proofs were struck twice of polished planchets, there is some DDO / DDR on each but much is MD because of double striking.

The 55 is a classic "Poorman's doubled die", which IS NOT a DDO, it is extreme Die Deterioration. Not sure what reverse is, but just checked, NO DDR listed so must be MD or damage Post Mint ( PMD)

Check here for doubled dies: http://coppercoins.com/diesearch.php

After checking some more, that T is a broken die, note chip on right, that area of die has broken off and become clogged within the lower portion of the leg, same above, just curled in to the recessed detail. Interesting find, good example of a PMDD.

Lincoln's face and nose on the 69s looked a little strange to me. Both the 68s and 69s are under $2.00 each and the 55 is to be bid on. I'll forget the 55 but what do you think of the other two for less than $4.00 for both? And thank you!

Check other proof coins being sold, this will tell you the limit, $2 is just about it for an individual proof. Altho, I've purchased 10 year groups for $9.95, so I'd be cautious.
Also watch the shipping charges! And buyers fees if not ebay.

Also pix of proof coins never come out well with direct LED lighting.

the '55 is a PMDD (or poor man's doubled die) and the other two look to be proofs but also look funky. I think it's just the pics, though. As a personal warning, beware of proof coins shot at that angle. The reflections tend to hide imperfections rather well.

I'd skip the first and last and grab the second. It's much the better of the three. Be sure to watch out for high postage costs.

Those are very common proofs - You can buy the whole sets for around 7 bucks. My LCS sells common proof cents for about a dollar.
