received this in change yesterday and it looks like tripling.is there such a thing as MD Tripling? there a only 2 pictures as my USB microscope software crashed. I will try to fix the issue and post more as soon as I can!   Edited by Tootallious 09/16/2017 4:59 pm

I suppose a minting machine could "jump" twice on a strike. Your quarter is pretty cool looking - good find.

Here is a similar thread to yours and Coop's rseponse ( around the reverse edge): Those are incuse devices raised on the die,any die movement make's them distorted. see link below:(scroll down the page to see similar doubling to yours) http://goccf.com/t/284460&whichpage=4TheObverse on your coin is a MD

Great information! I figured that it was MD. It was a few of the images that made me question if there is such a thing as (Machine Tripling)? It looks pretty cool and it has already been put into a 2x2. Thank you all for your helpful and knowledgable opinions and advice! : > )

Oops, my mistake Chase. I looked at the first picture that the OP posted and saw tripling. Then I saw the second picture and it had only one MD strike.
