I have seen one of these on here before..I think.

Is this a "Bar Nickel" ?

Would it be considered a variety?

Any idea where I would look for an attribute number ?

Thanks for the help.

Over used die, I would guess. Gotta watch this because I've never heard of a bar nickel. Even at my age a beer cost more than 5 cents

The date is indeed. Not sure about the E in liberty, think that's a hit, not fully connected to rim and loss ofdetail on upper bar of E. Now that maybe an RDB, retained Die break, a completely separate error.. Person to PM woul be PotBellyPub here on CCF to ask, know he's done a few of these and some attributed too.

You may find some info here, just don't know where to look

The zero is definitely a bar I agree with crazybo on the E it looks to be a possible hit but not a bar. Looks like cu5c-1960-d 01 on Cuds on coins .

Nice Bar Nickel. A Die Chip anywhere in Liberty or the date that connects the device to the rim qualifies it as a Bar. Bar nickels and Bie cents were given the names in the 1960's to promote interest in our hobby. It worked, they were relatively easy to find compared to many other errors and Varieties. They are not however, that easy to find today. There's a section on these at Cuds on Coins.
