Yep, glue or lacquer, etc. If you wish, a bath in pure acetone should remove it after a while.

Edit: coin in bath.

I'm not so sure on this one. Apply the acetone bath as suggested, but if this stays the same after a good soak, jump back in and advise us.

Looks like something protected the original finish in certain areas and later peeled/wore of the coin. It could have been something like a sticker that was left on for years and some areas were not protected and were affected through the time it was covered. A lamination tends to be in straight lines. I would like to see a close up of the tops of the wheat lines areas where the color changes. If the metal is missing and shows a step, then it would not be a color change issue. But it is a lamination and the metal is missing, then the weight should be off. Something else to consider?

Weight is 3.0 grams and edges next to ears are a edge that a toothpick catches.this is a hard one to photograph but I believe it is a lamination error and some of the metal fell off already.can you see how the plating goes under the "OF",it's not on top.thanks for looking
