I found this from my second time around pile and noticed the glob on top of the leaves on the left. After looking further I noticed the globs on the "u" also on the "o",and the possible die cracks at either side at the bottom of the torch. Sorry about the blurred pictures. Thanks for looking! Any and all advice is greatly appreciated. HAve a good one!

As you guessed correctly, die chips and small cracks. Later die state.

Not worth much but certainly worth keeping.

Yep, looks like the coin is in great shape. The die that struck it was not. The dies strike a lot of coins, most dies start out very nice, but they go downhill from there. I think every year of every coin has some coins with chips and cracks and other things, depending on the state of the die. Dies start out EDS (Early Die State), go to MDS (Mid Die State), then to LDS (Late Die State), and finally to VLDS (Very Late Die State). You will learn to recognize these die states (stages) on coins.

I have one that just looks like yours that I found in change, just more advanced in a Very Late Die State. It shows a huge long Die crack on the Obverse connected to the L in Liberty and exits almost out of his face. Also shows multiple Die Chips and shows a Retained Interior Die Break on the reverse under the butt of the flame torch. It's not the same year though. It's a year newer, from 2016.

There are also a few clash marks Newbie. See my post "Unpolished Die Clash" on this page, and you should be able to recognize them.

Coinmasters; I have seen your coin and it is a sweet one. I just absolutely love that coin. Mine on the other hand might have a small nose clash,But nowheres close to yours!

Thanks Newbie. Yes, I agree yours is clashed at the nose. It's also clashed inside your green oval. I bet there's more there than your picture shows. Also both our coins have the tail at the bottom right of the torch. I suppose that could be clash or a natural area for a crack to start. Anyway, nice find.

Thanks Buddy. I Didn't see Newbie's clash at first either. The pup on dimes is under the ear and west on the reverse.
