I was curious on this coin, wanted to run it by the forum to see what kind of opinion formed on the grade. I am still learning about grades on british pennies and the values confuse me as well. What kind of value this is in today's market. Appreciate your guy's thoughts, maybe you can help thanks.

It has some dings.

Very pleasing coin; one of the nicest Halfpennies I have seen.
Couple of digs in the reverse field and small rim impact dents, one on each side.

Pure copper is comparatively soft

I can't quite make up my mind it it has any wear on the high points of the design, both sides. I there is any wear at all, it is well hidden by the nice even patina.
The British on this Forum may well give it a 'good EF' grade, but I am tempted to say 'uncirculated'.

Take special care with this coin to avoid it rubbing against anything, so that the patina continues to enhance it.

Tony Clayton lists the value the 1854 British Halfpenny in uncirculated at 130 Pounds.

Its better than VF Peter IMO although it is the most common copper Half penny so the value is not very much more.

It's better than VF. I'd go for XF here. Too bad about the dings, otherwise a very nice coin.

I'd say EF for this one - appears to be a small amount of wear to the hair on the obverse. Reverse is better apart from the unfortunate gouges.

My point is due to field and edge damage it will only be worth VF value.Colin Cooke has a couple on his website.

I agree with sel_69l; I am not seeing much wear. It looks like there may be some on the high points though, so I would say AU-58. I really like this example.
