Are ebay sellers penalized if a package isn't delivered by the estimated delivery date? I'm watching an item bounce around the state because it was MIS-SENT to the wrong regional post office. The seller has nothing to do with this Charlie Foxtrot, in fact the item was tracking to arrive a couple of days early.

They should not be, there is a window to get the package out into the shipping lanes, which they could be penalized for that delay, if any, but once it is in the hands of the shipper...?

Shouldn't be a problem; it is tracking as still en route, so I would just message the buyer and explain what you are seeing. You won't be penalized unless it arrives super late or not at all. I used to buy (emphasis on used to) from an international seller with 99.5% feedback who routinely took over two weeks to get around to packing his orders, followed by 2-3 weeks transit time.

They do on Amazon but so far I haven't noticed an impact on ebay. They are now sending the seller alerts saying package hasn't been shipped in the expected time frame. But as for knocking you down I haven't seen anything. They do say they might follow up with you and suggest you offer a different handling time.

I'm the buyer, Finn235, and don't want to see the seller to get dinged. The post office failed in this case and I don't think the seller should be on the hook for their performance.

No, the seller doesn't get penalized by ebay but the problem is that some anxious buyer may leave a negative feedback because the package took "too long" to reach them. Have seen it many times reading peoples feedback. That is rotten though, sellers have no control what the USPS does.

I do not think ebay will care, only your feedback matters. I would certainly take the bouncing into consideration and I would not even mention it in the feedback as it is no fault of the seller.

It's been so long since feedback has meant much. Unless it's an obviously bad seller, any other feedback is pretty useless. I still leave them, but not many buyers even bother these days.

I just got a book from Singapore. It took 2 months, but I saved $15 on shipping by going surface. It was a month longer than expected, but I didn't get upset. It wasn't the seller's fault. I gave him top feedback. (Yes, it was a coin book.)

A book is usually worth the wait.

No, you are evaluated by ebay only on the date the package tracking number was uploaded by your local post office. Any other delays do not affect you, however it may affect the buyer's feedback, if he is unfair.
