I kind of figured that this was coming, but it is causing quite the stir today. I have received 15 emails about this rate hike.

With the rollout of the new holder, and a wider variety of services a price increase is not much of a surprise. I still think the new prices are very competitive and the 10 day seems to be a great value. My understanding is they will still run specials from time to time. ND, thanks for posting the new fee structure. Mike

So how does max value work, anyways? I mean, for instance, my avatar coin might be an MS63PL, or an MS65DMPL. Even though you've prepaid, do they bill you when a coin comes in at a value greater than the tier you've paid for? And, in the case of ANACS, what guide would they use for price?

As an aside, I note that Greysheet value for my avatar coin exceeds PCGS' listed value. Go figure.

As far as I know, all the major services use the "greysheet" for values. During the shows, they use the online version. If the value exceeds the limit, you will get bumped to the next price level.

I have found that out the hard way a few times. One exception, if your coin falls below expectations, you do not get the lower tier price.

This was why PCGS and NGC used the dealer submissions for so long. It saved many a collector some cash.

When your coin sits on the border, it is always best to have a second opinion. Collectors and dealers alike tend to look at their coins with rose colored glasses.

They have made submitting so complex I am starting to think ex-IRS or ex-politicians are working there now? I am sorry, but I find this all very confusing, regardless of what service you wish to use, and until they can simplify the whole process I wouldn't send a coin in, no matter what! If somethings warrants submitting I would have to take it to a dealer and let him do it for me!
