1964 D Quarter With A Broken "O" Or Piece Of Coin In The Middle Of God?

So not sure what happened here but looks like a piece of the coin is embedded in the opening of the "O" in God. I see the delamination taking place just to the left of this area.

Please explain. These are pieces of a coin that broke off another coin and got on to this coin? these are created from a bad broken die? Or these are from this coin and they broke off and got stuck on these spots?

No. You almost got it. No

They are from the die getting chipped in those areas, not badly broken. Seems the posts on the die that form the "holes" in the O and the D have become chipped letting some of the metal to flow into those spaces and creating what you see.

Die Chips. Even though worn from circulation, it would be still a keeper in my book. Also, it's 90 percent Silver. :)
