My 85 year old father bought this token in Korea in 1947. He was told it is a 'love token' from China. He has asked me to find out more about it, but I have not been able to learn anything. Please help.

It is bronze, 4 cm wide, 1/3 cm thick, round with a square 3/4 cm hole
in the center, 4 character writing symbols one one side and the reverse shows 4 copulating positions.

I was unable to upload my photos, but I can email them to you if you are interested.

G'day, on visits to China, I have seen pottery jars, with lids, various sizes: inside the jars, and/or inside the lids, were images similar to those you describe. These were referred to as "wedding night" pottery. Apparently they were produced over the last few centuries, upto the early 20th century. They are now regarded as "quaint" momentoes of a long-gone era.

I gather that these were not pornography, as we now use that term. They were intended as visual aids in a self-directed learning program.

Perhaps your token was another aspect of this phenomenon ?

I am sorry but I can not upload the pictures that were sent to me because they are not a love token like one would think, it is a novelty coin with some scenes that wouldn't be appropriate for kids to see

Edit:it may be for a couple on their wedding night and they may call it a love token but its not what I was thinking of when I offered to upload the pics for him, anyway it wouldn't be appropriate for this forum

Yep, a fantasy, only loosely based on the traditional Chinese "cash coin" design. Impossible to date, but probably fairly new when it was acquired.
