1859 Canadian Large Penny - Rotated Die

We don't talk about it much because it's almost always there.. Your cent is a Haxby PC59-77a1..with dies 77a + P15a.. Nice dark brown in the outer legend but the lighter centers means that it was cleaned in the past.. Probably make F 12 ..but I'm no expert on grading.. Thanks for bringing it to us here.. Phil310 Pillar of the Community United States 1101 Posts	Posted 09/29/2017 09:00 am Several of the Haxby die pairs are often found with 30-45 degree rotation. All of the 77a1 and 301 that I have seen have about that much rotation. Those two would be unusual if they didn't have rotation. There are 4 reverses paired with obverse 77a. If I remember right, I think the obverse die was rotated in the holder on the first 3 and corrected when they put in the last reverse die. I'll check that out tonight on the examples I have. I checked the die pairs I have, and 77a1 and 77a2 have the larger rotation (30-40 degrees). 77a3 has a smaller rotation and 77a4 is pretty normal.
