Me thinks it is an ugly environmentaly toned zincoln cent which may have roller lines on it.. Also looks like the copper plating has been worn off the high points on the obverse showing the zinc.

Mark, it looks like it might of been possibly burned with a light like Coop said. Do you think it was burned with a lighter?

Usually heat on a Cent makes a colorful tone on it - not a black colour, there are a ton of "how to tone copper Cents" on youtube using various methods including Bic lighters.
