A couple of years ago, I've found this denarius form Beziers with the metal detector. Obv + CARLVS REX FR Rev + BEDERRIS = BEZIERS DEPETROT 148 D(mm): 21 W(gr): 1,02 Only 3 coins, including this one. are known to history, (as far as I know). S.Coupland wrote about this coin: "The others are from a lost hoard in Italy (Bondeno) of which no pictures exist, and one recorded by van der Chijs as found in Wijk bij Duurstede in the 19th century"    |

@Archeo1982, first welcome to CCF. Second, that is quite a find you have there. If only a few of these were made (in Southern France), I wonder how it came to be that two were found in the Netherlands and one in Italy. Obviously from trade, but it seems most likely that at least one would have been found more local.  I hope that you will post more of your coins. "If you climb a good tree, you get a push."

Thank you all for the welcome. I've found a couple of Carolingians over the years. Including portraits denari & possibly imitations of that time period. I truly like the European early medieval coins.
The Beziers denarius was found a couple of kilometers from the Medieval trade city of Dorestad, present Dutch town of Wijk bij Duurstede.

Better pics! These show the pin holing in the center of the coin due to it being so thin: 21 mm in diameter, but only 1 g of silver.

New data about this coin. It appears to be a new variant. Did someone noted the S of BEDERRIS? In the given parallel it stands in normal position. On my coin
the letter S is rotated a quarter turn.
