This coin just seemed a bit more crisp than the business strikes I see of this year and mint. Lettering and detail seem square, away from rim, and almost sandblasted in spots. Not calling this a Matte or anything but was just curious if Denver received old proof dies for coinage this year.

cwb- His coin could not be an SMS because it was minted in Denver, but it does look very similar to these experimental Coins.

The big difference is that the SMS for 1964 were early die examples.

Many collectors aren't aware of the experimental SMS coins from 1964, just sharing some knowledge!

I do find the 64 SMS topic interesting for sure. I did read that they minted a very very small amt of 64 Half Dollar SMS coins in Denver. However, I have yet to hear about or see one Lol! It would be nice to see a 64 D Peace dollar though! As for this coin I just thought it was struck very well for a Denver 64. The die markers for the 64 SMS are helpful for sure CWB. I saw an example in person and it helped quite a bit more too.
