I am seeking donations for the perpetual giveaway. One coin will be selected by the membership from each of the 6 continents. Countries not part of a continent will be considered to be part of the continent closest to them. Please place your offering below stating the type of coin and the continent it represents. A master list will be kept at the bottom of this post. I will organise a vote during the week of 9/1/06. As I am a fan of copper and most countries...particular if you are part of the britsh commonwealth...has used copper coins I will offer a average circulation grade Australian 1946 penny. Considered the 3rd rarest penny after the 1930 and 1925 Australian penny this coin is much sort after and has increased in value steadily over the last 10 years. Image: p1946(f)2.jpg18.32 KB

I suggested a bit something different in the original thread, but I also like this idea.
I still think that we should have the coins placed in airtites, and allow them to be assembled in one of crystalk64's amazing custom holders.
While it will require more shipping, I believe that it will be a piece that will stand out. I can provide the North American coin. (will have to think about which coin).

I still like the idea, if we desire, to send a little gift coin on to the next recipient of the set. Signing the card is great but having something stay behind will also be rewarding. Of course you all know you will probably get a proof 2005 Buffalo nickel from me. Got quite a herd so giving one up wouldn't be to painful and who ever happens to get it would NEVER forget how and why they got that coin! Of course, if I was sending to Kyra, I would take a scroungy Morgan out and run over it a time or two with the truck before sending it on so she would NEVER forget where she got that one!!!

Run over a Morgan with your truck? I can't believe you said that!! Anyways, so far I like all the proposed donations. I'll have to check my stash and see if I have anything worthy of such a venture. Rachel [:p]

Yes, the idea is to get as many offers as possible. If more than one coin from a continent is offered the members of the forum will then vote for the coin to be included.

It's not much, but it is the coin that lured me to the darkside. I can donate a 2004 Greece 2 Euro Olympic Commemorative if you feel that it is worthy. Perhaps I could use it as a give it away coin as Terry suggests. It is at the mercy of the forum!

Hey Bigfella when you post a date here it would be best if you offered both the European and the U.S. date as your 9/1/06 is Sept.1, 2006 to us! I would suggest you use 9/1/06 followed with (01/09/06) for us Americans! We always list the month, date and year while you folks way over there use the date, month and year! Now I bet quite a few folks have learned something right here today!!!
