first doubling looks rpm (to me), it doesn't look like a shelve finish to me; would it be a candidate to be sent to have it check or not?

There is a 1951 S/S east RPM 004- might have to look that up!

That is indeed a RPM. Luckily, it's not MD. I do agree with Mark. Look up that RPM number.

Looks like MD. The location of the mint mark is not a match for any listed.

It looks more like a really well placed circulation hit to me. You can see where the bottom part of the S is reduced in size.
