Recently, there was a counterfeit 1882 $3 Gold Princess listed on ebay. I had to contact ebay directly to get the listing removed. The odd part was that it was not even a very good counterfeit, if you knew what to look for. The 1882 $3 Princess is considered the most counterfeited US gold coin ever made. With a mintage of just 1,500, there are an estimated 5,000+ counterfeits in existence. There is the "omega" counterfeit: https://www.NGCcoin.com/news/articl...hree-dollar/But, most 1882 $3 counterfeits can be determined by its details. Below is a recent ebay listed counterfeit:  The giveaways are the mushy details and the uneven dentils on both the obverse and reverse. |

Glad to see this isn't a terribly good counterfeit. If they were contemporary, they might have passed.

You did report the coin on CCF, but there are guidelines/rules that should be followed at the top of each Counterfeit section.

It was not me, but you should have an email from CCF giving some details. Of the threads I saw, you did not follow the guidelines. Re-read the guidelines at the top of each section on how to properly post and report those items on CCF.

There are counterfeit reports all the time, and no one is being paid to follow-up at CCF, as far as I know. It's volunteer work by many to help all members. So, going back to my questions... Here are the rules, posted right at the top of the forum and they are very clear. http://goccf.com/f/160  Here are the 5 times you posted it complete with timestamps.      No pictures, no seller link, no explanation. Topics would have been completely useless in a matter of days. There's no way I'm spending the time I do doing this and have no future benefit to the forum and collectors. People, I'm losing my house right now over doing the right thing for the hobby. Using this forum to report all these counterfeits over the years has literally poisoned our viewership towards ebay. The ebay affiliate program was our main income here. We were making $9,000-$12,000 a month here from ebay. Since we started doing the counterfeit reporting, it's down where if we hit $2000 I'm excited. That doesn't even cover the mortgage. We've already received the "Notice of Intent to Foreclose," and are preparing to move in with my Mother-in-Law. Oh boy. Then I get people like this that are so ungrateful for what I do and think they can do whatever they want. He doesn't care that I spent my own money to go meet an ebay executive to get this reporting setup done. He doesn't care that I'm losing my house over it. He doesn't care that I spend several hours a day trying to clean up ebay. All he cares about is that his petty little drop in the bucket got removed for not following the rules. (5 times) I can honestly say, I haven't been this mad in YEARS. (I'm still shaking) PS: He's likely going to complain now that his post was edited. The Staff removed my last email reply to him, after he obviously didn't even read the previous ones. (Or he would have known at the time of this post that he did indeed not follow the rules.) It had to be removed because I was furious and cursing up a storm. |

Bobby, I'm sure a lot of CCF forum members are moved, or would/will be moved by reading your last post. Not that it means much, I've been considering upgrading my membership again lately, and will do it now. This site has helped me in many ways over the last several years.

I know you weren't, was just letting you know what the site means to me, and the supporter level is a super fair deal. Only because I'm a cheap skate I've delayed re-upping my supporter status  . $45 a year is more than fair for what I get in return.  |

The counterfeit $3 is not especially deceptive. As the OP stated its relief details are "mushy." There are much better counterfeits of this date and they are sharply struck.
