Hello, I just noticed this coin while cleaning out my wallet. I am hoping someone can give me information about this coin such as the value of it. All I know based on searching online is that this is a Roman coin. Thank you.

AR Denarius of Septimius Severus. Laodicea ad Mare, 198-202 AD, see (for instance) RIC 510a / RSC 345.

The reverse is off-center, and the engraving is somewhat crude but decently struck. I thought it might have been a fourree at first but the edge doesn't really support that.

Obv: Laureate bust right, L SEPT SEV AVG IMP XI PART MAX

Rev: Moneta seated left with scales and cornucopia, MONETA AVGG

And to CCF. You may want to change your title. All caps means you're yelling. Nice coin by the way.Where did you first find it?

Thank you for the information. Would you be able to tell me the value of such coin. I do believe that it was a store change given back for a purchase I made. I just noticed it while cleaning my wallet of loose change. Also, is it something I should take to a coin dealer and have it appraised? Thank again.

You got it back in store change? In the USA? A 1,800 year old silver coin? I'm happy when I find a pre-1965 dime.

Assuming the coin is real it's worth $25-30. I have some issues with the authenticity though, so better photos would be needed to confirm it is not counterfeit.

Weight and diameter would also be helpful as well as an edge photo.

The edges of the coin look (to me) a bit high
