I recently came across a 1921 Morgan silver dollar with a spider web of extra metal connecting the "ATES" in UNITED STATES ON THE REVERSE (images attached). Is this a mint error and has anyone seen this before?
Die cracks are very common for the series and even more common with 1921 Morgans. Here is a link to the VAMworld die crack guide for the 16 berry D2 reverse. http://www.vamworld.com/1921-P+...k+Guide and to CCF!
Quote: Without searching out the VAM those look more like small die breaks rather than just cracks. Should be easy to find if it's in the crack map guide.
This one's a "smoking gun" which can be accurately attributed for VAM, date and MM just from the one pic posted here.
