It looks like someone painted this coin black and then tried clean it with a brush of some sort. None the less, I have one! as always, I appreciate your knowledgeable and honest opinions. Thank you for looking!

vf20. looks like a full horn. maybe an acetone bath will help.

VF-30 details (ED), hard to imagine this being conserved successfully.

Another member has suggested that a standard submission to ICG with "conservation requested" or similar could produce a significant improvement.

Coinfrog, I appreciate that. Iv'e never sent a coin into any of TPG's as I am unsure which one to join. I was coincide ring NGC because their $139.00 membership includes $150.00 credit which I think I can use to send a few coins in with to have them graded and slabbed. Which, out of pocket expense will only be the membership fee for the first run that I send in. But as I said,  I'm still trying to figure out which will be best for my needs.

Cannot find this post for the life of me. But the OP said clearly that by requesting conservation on an ICG submission, an accomplished restorer (Mike? Bill?) might be able to significantly improve this coin.

Coinfrog, I beleive I just stumbled across the post that you were looking for. I believe it was from (afewcentsmore) his reply to the op's post was about conserving a Buffalo nickel. But now for the life of me, I can't remember what the title was. (lol) I just wanted to thank you and let you know that I'm going to contact them about membership or information on submitting coins.

Yeh, we were on high alert for a few days but never had to evacuate! It was somewhat surreal watching the flames from our living room window. That fire was less than a mile from us to the East. Mean while, we were literally surround by fire. My wife and I had packed what is important to us, documents, pictures, Nick nacks, Coin collection, and all my guns and ammo! We just unpacked everything yesterday but we are keeping most of it close together just in case we have a earthquake. (Lol). Thank you for asking!!

Thank you Crazyb0! Yes it is naturally crazy here. Two years ago we had a 6.0 earthquake that rock Napa so hard that I was sure that an asteroid slammed into the valley and it was the end. As far as people, we have what I like to call "Moroff's" their not Morans because their more off than on.  Coinfrog, I will keep the CCF Family up to date as things move in a positive direction. So far, from what I last heard, over 350 square miles have burned! That's 6 times the size of San Fransisco. Of the 8 fires burning in my area, most are at or about 47% contained. The firefighters have been doing an outstanding job! They saved a lot of folks who would have parished without them! Thank you all again!
