I'm certain this will be moved, but I couldn't find a category for my ebay question. I closed down my bank account that had my Pay Pal account, and I can't submit any questions to sellers? Is ebay preventing me from asking questions to sellers, because I don't have an active Pay Pal account? I'm trying to ask sellers if they'll accept a cashiers check, since I haven't activated my Pay Pal account.

Possibly, but not sure. Suggest giving ebay a call and see what they say.

I think ebay is a little ham fisted when it comes to buyer and seller communicating because most of the time they ( ebay) are left on the outside looking in. They lose too much money from transactions carried out outside the ebay system. Buyer nor seller can send their email address to one another. Until recently, after you'd conducted business with somebody via paypal, you could go to Paypal and their email address was in the details. I wanted to send a gift to a seller in the UK. I went to paypal and pulled up the transaction, only to discover that the loophole that allowed for direct communication ... had been "closed". Their email address is no longer displayed. They say that ebay and PayPal are different entities now ... but I have my doubts about that. Speaking of Standing Liberty quarters ... I was looking at some last night to see what the one I was about to list should be priced at, and stumbled across a listing of an 1887 Morgan dollar and 4 SLQs, for 49 dollars including postage. Three of the quarters are very nice, in the range of XF to AU but with heavy toning. They are dated 1923, 1925 and 1927 all Philly minted coins. The 4th is a lower grade specimen, a 1927-D. The 1887 Morgan looks to have been "proof-like" but has some wear. The quarters are more desirable to me than the Morgan dollar. I'd just bought a bunch of mercs from Rick Snow and didn't really want to spend the money, but I talked myself into it quickly when I saw the condition of the 3 SLQs. Chance

Most sellers use pay pal as their one and only payment method accepted. Your account is flagged as a non PP account holder, so I'm guessing any attempt for communication with a seller who is PP exclusive, would be blocked.
In today's world PP is the easiest to use anywhere. Plus I've been using their free 6 month free purchases without fees or interest. I've never paid fees or interest yet so this is far better than any typical credit card.

Its real handy for buying from European countries whose monetary systems escape my basic understanding. Just mash the button and dollars become pounds at the other end....or Euros. I find out the exchange rate and an keep that roughly in my head, but they sort out the fine details.

@moxking, Are you saying that using PP Credit sidesteps the 3% PP fee? I thought it was 6 months to pay, with no interest, but the fee still applied. thanks, Ed

He's saying there is no fee to him for using paypal credit as long as it is paid off in time.

I don't know anything about this plan, but it sounds like mox is saying you have 6 months to roll without charges as opposed to around one month on most cards - is that right? And if that's the case, do you still earn Paypal rewards on these purchases?

The PayPal credit program gives you 6 months on your purchases before any interest kicks in. The 6 months starts from the day of each individual purchase.

Thanks to all the input! I guess I'm just going to have to activate my Pay Pal.

I don't think you get any Paypal reward points. I try and stay away from the 6 month thing though. Can dig myself a nice hole with that shovel
