This coin came into our gallery today. Really odd. We do not deal in coins but I know they are faked a lot. Not sure what to think about it. Always skeptical.

Lady stamped on both sides.

Have you all seen these from time to time?

A lot of Magician's coins have heads on both sides. They're fake, of course, and not used as legal tender. Sometimes people try to sell them though as super rare error coins. Anyway, this composition looks too far off, for what I see, to be even considered real.

Here's a link to the real items for comparison: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces5580.html

A few simple tests to find out if it's a fake is to weigh it (should be 26.73 grams), measure it (should be 38.1 mm in diameter and 2 mm thick), to check for magnetism (a lot of fakes are magnetic) and to find out if you can hear the sound of silver when you make it sing.

So unless I really missed something, I don't think you have something special there.

Ya man! I just saw all the ebay auctions for these things LOL! That and it is the coin Harvey Dent had in that Batman movie and they make replicas for that as well.

I knew something was up.

Thanks for the reply!

Strange, top pictures looks fake but bottom picture looks pretty real. Is there a seem on the side edges of the coin? If this were made from 2 Peace dollars then you would at least have some silver value.

I did notice that strange line around the inside of the edge that kind of pops out at you. My dad took the photo so I did not actually lay eyes on it.

Perhaps there is, at least, a bit of silver.

@Vmabuck, welcome to CCF and thanks for showing us your Magician's coin. I'm not sure that we've seen one made from Peace dollars before!
