I am new to all of this so excuse me ahead of time if I seem a little confused or don't know some terminology. With that being said I came across a 2017 p ozark riverways quarter today and noticed that there is a strike starting from the outside edge of the two in 2017 completely through the zero, stopping halfway to the one. I can't feel it when I run my finger over it, it doesn't feel or look raised to me and appears to be more of an indention or cut. I'm going to attach pictures that I'm taking with my cell phone so hopefully theyll be decent, if not please let me know and I can try to get better ones! TIA :) any input or knowledge is really appreciated

That one is tough. It doesn't look like damage. In some ways, it looks like a die crack but, not really. It also looks like a die gouge but, again, not really. It does appear to be raised so, the only other thing I can think of is a random lamination problem.

My issue is that the line runs over the left side of the zero but under the right side. Maybe a die gouge is the best explanation.

I agree with Spruett001, that has to be an indention on the die that has caused that. If a piece of metal had previously been struck upon another coin it is possible to have caused that type of indent into the die face, affecting coins minted after that. I'm a bit unsure also why the right side of 0 has no impression(raised). Only thing I can figure is that if it was a metal debris sliver, where the left portion was thicker and stronger, leaving the right side of 0 die face to sever in two...? Head scratcher for sure. Not the normal strike error.

Thanks so much for the info! I hadn't even noticed that it went over and under the zero and didn't think of debris in the die either! Def alot of great things to think over

Keep in mind that the date is incused. I am no pro but it seems to be a struck through debris. The raised line on the right side of the zero could have simply worn away? I would like to read what coop has to say

Struck through was my first thought too. Since it involves the date, that is a nice find. Good eyes

Since it is indented I'd go with struck through too. Picture is deceiving - makes it look like the date and problem area are both raised.

I wasn't even thinking about the incuse date. Those rascally ATBs...

I'll go with struck through debris as well.
