I don't know what the 321 mean. I am kind of clueless about these things.
I paid $300 US for them.

My vote is fake my friend.
I have never seen the 321 stamp before, Plus the lettering on the back side looks off to me.
A genuine should weigh 7.99 grams.
If it does weight 7.99 grams, I'd like to see the thickness of the coin. Gold is one of the dense minerals and its weight can only be duplicated marginally by tungsten.

I just looked again, its not 321 but J21. I sent it to a jeweler to get the weight and dimensions. I will post the data as soon as I get it. Should be within the hour. I just took a picture of the second coin. Its a different year, 1918 or 13. I zoomed in a bit more to how more details (using iPhone 7). Please let me know if I should return them. I don't want to get ripped off. I paid $600 for them. Thanks.

The second one looks fine to me. I don't know the type well but nothing looks weird to me.
However I do have doubts about the first one. The colour and reflections look like touristy souvenir coins, plated with what could be gold, but usually the core is copper. Please, do post better close-ups of the first coin along with weight and dimensions for extra clarity!

The first one doesn't look like it should. The second one may be just fine.
It's always good to ask your questions here before you buy to avoid any return problems.

Those are close up pics of the 1st one. It weighs 7.99 grams. however it is 21 carats Gold apparently as per the jeweler that I showed it to.

The 1927 coin, if genuine, would have been made in Pretoria, South Africa, and seems to have the SA mintmark over the date. It doesn't look right to me, and a genuine coin certainly wouldn't have J21 on it. The 1913 one looks genuine.

Man that is weird! I know they make fakes with less quality gold which still makes them valuable. Not numismatic tho. I found some similar with the same 21 marking, which I believe the J21 mark is to show the gold purity. These coins were made for jewelry or to be used as ring tops. I'll look more in depth on the 1913 for you know.

I'm going to go way out on a limb to say J21/321 probably never appeared on an authentic coin.

not on a genuine coin. A genuine Sovereign is 22 carat gold, not 21. Perhaps it's a golden coin-like jewelry inlay? Anyway, if you bought them at the same place, then I suggest you return them. Both of them. If one is fake, then why trust the other? The salesman apparently doesn't know too much about them...

The first one is obviously a jewellers copy. 21ct gold. I've seen a few but they are usually only 9ct.
With J.21 scrawled on it, it is only ever going to be bullion anyway.
