Didn't realise you had a coin thread too. Heaps of roos and other Australian animals on coins. The Koala seems to be an exception. Apart from the colour dollar and silver bullion coin it's almost absent. Then again I'm feeling a bit brain dead this morning. Anyone else think of any?

The 2004 50¢ Student Design has a 'stylized' Koala on the Rev. I personally think it doesn't really resemble a Koala all that much, but I don't know the age of the student & I certainly couldn't have done any better....

and the koala was on the $200 gold Koala, which was NCLT. Do they still make them ? Kangaroos feature on the old half-enny & penny, and the modern $1; and, as part of the larger Coat of Arms designs, on the florin and the 50-cent. Although, the 50-cent is the ugliest rendering of our coat of arms that I can imagine. Peter

I'll put in one of the 2004 50¢ as well, so you'll have Kangaroo & Koala coins turning up together.

yeh scott nearly ALL Americans call them Koala bears, but really they're Koalas and aren't related to bears at all.

Yes Koalas aren't bears, they are marsupials, they have a pouch to carry their young. Now Drop Bears, on the other hand, dangerous little critters.....
