This is a common one. The special rinse? Not sure what you are talking about. The design for these did receive some special made burnished examples. (how many? I don't remember now)

Thank you Coop. Heard only a handful were not destroyed from Denver mint. It was an experimental rinse that just didn't work like the mint wanted it to. Well thank you for your time. I'll just keep it. I'll keep looking for a good coin to post. Still new to all this.

They are dated 2001-P. So your coin is not one of them. Something new to watch for. But they would be very rare in circulation.

There are some 2000 P coins as will. But all experimentation, test, patterns etc are done at Philadelphia. There would be no reason to have a D mint experimental rinse coin. I would find the 2006 D coin shown on the small dollars website to be highly unlikely because once again experiments were done at Philadelphia, plus there are no known 2006 P experimental rinse coins. The also strike me not so much as an anti-tarnishing rinse and a "pre-tarnish" rinse to give the coins an even layer of a protective tarnish/patina.

OP cited a 2000 D coin not 2006 D coins.

And I addressed why they would not have done a 2000 D. (first 2 sentences) The small dollars website shows a 2006 D which was the 2006 D that I referenced. (third sentence)

65silverdime, are you sure? It looks more like Environmental Damage to me.
Errers and Varietys.
