scmoore61 Valued Member United States 487 Posts	Posted 05/09/2008 1:15 pm I had just read in Heritage magazine about one of these selling for $149,000 (pcgs MS 65) and I found these in bag I was going through and I got excited until I found out in these grades they are only worth a few dollars, still not bad for the 3 cents I paid. I love the front of the first one. The second one has stripes on the front. What causes that? BadThad Bedrock of the Community United States 19935 Posts	Posted 05/09/2008 6:39 pm Those are a couple of nice 26S's! They both appear to be F-VF. You have to keep in mind with this date/mint that the dies were generally worn pretty badly. It makes them a little trickier to grade. The "stripes" are due to a poor alloy mix in the planchet, pretty common and it doesn't hurt the value. The verdigris on the reverse of the second one is a concern. I'd soak it in the distilled water and then xylenes to see if it improves. Then rinse it with acetone and put it in an airtite ASAP so it doesn't "grow".
