So I have this 1942 S Penny. I would almost say acid wash, but considering how far underweight it is, figured I would ask you all. It weighed in at 1.9 grams. Any thoughts?

What is that thing around it on pic # 2? Looks like acid solution ate it down - you notice there is no rim - first indicator!

I just have it in a plastic staple case right now. That's all that is. But that was my thoughts. Just seems so underweight
Rest in Peace

@3series84, yes looks like damage from an acid bath to me.

Might be a different type of chemical reaction if buried at one time.

Sorry, your coin is too damaged to have any collector value - recommend giving it to a kid!

I'm glad they do. My days would be far less entertaining without your presence.
