Yea I know, old news...
still, interesting to see the bullion and proofs at numbers that go back roughly 8-9 years ago.
not rock bottom low mintages but when some are 900 max mintage versus 4,100, thats a pretty steep drop!
cant make my mind which one to get....

I just picked up a 1/20oz BU gold piece that saw only 1000 pieces minted this year. The 1/10oz BU is absolutely ridiculous at only 300 pieces for this year. They are long gone, getting your hands on one would be a miracle.
I plan on buying the 17' Reverse Proof Silver set soon. I've got the first two they made, they have a really good chance of appreciating.
The gold pieces have shown a tremendous appreciation in all sizes. Libertads are my favorite coin. They offer such a unique buying opportunity that other mints just don't offer.

I have the complete BU silver 1 oz. series but haven't ventured out to gold or any other sizes.
Maybe I will someday.

A really unique and unusual fact about these coins is that the Mexican Mint often makes LESS BU gold coins than they do proof coins. For any other world mint, it's just the opposite.
I too, like the 1oz gold BU coin from this year. I think it has a ton if potential for growth. Imagine what it'll be selling for in a few years. I just can't put together the money right now to pull the trigger. A few more days like yesterday in the stock markets and I'll just tap into my portfolio to make the purchase.

I would say between the fact that the mintage is what, 60% less roughly than last years, its not the lowest ever but it ranks up there AND the fact that prices are already up, this one goes higher once supply is out and the 69 slab will have its own premium among collectors.
I am torn, the half proof or 1 oz BU...for gold... leaning towards 1 oz BU, because of the size.
looks like 2017 reverse proofs will come in at a record low at 1,000 mintage, think thats the silver proof I want, either that or a roll of Libertads for 2017

I am a libertad fanatic. I hope to have a complete set of silver bu and proof someday. The BU will not be very challenging but the proof will be daunting. I had the 2017 BU range of all sizes in gold. But I am not really a gold collector so I could not resist flipping the stuff to fund other purchases. That was actually my plan when I bought them when they first came out Since then was able to pick up another 1/4 ounce gold for just a little over spot. It's a bit beat up from banging around in the bag but hey only 500 of them. I will likely flip that too. The silver will be a lifelong endeavor if I don't get bored or give up, so I do not need the gold. I agree the 2017 reverse will likely appreciate. Does anyone know what the other 500 that are not APMEX will look like or when they will come out? It would be super cool if they never came out and it ended up being 500 only. By the way, if you want a really low mintage item APMEX has the 1 kg silver BU Libertad mintage on those is only 200. APMEX only has three as of right now.

Dealers I've looked at and Wikipedia are saying mintage of 500 for the 1 kg. Looks like APMEX has 7 as of this morning.

mr1030- the 500 is for the Proof Like version. They have a Proof Like version and a BU version. I don't know why Wikipedia does not show bullion mintages. Don Bailey shows 500 for Proof Like and 200 for bullion BU. APMEX confirmed 200 for me from their source also.

AHH. Thanks for the info. I've thought of buying the proof-likes in the past but never have. I love large libertads and have bought 5 ouncers in the past. Thanks to your info on the BU I pulled the trigger on one.

I have wanted one of those proof like kilos in the past too. I never bought one because I knew if I bought one-- then I would want the series. Talk about expensive.
I pulled the trigger on the bullion BU also. I mean, 200...I suppose they have a smaller market than the 1 oz coins...but still, that is pretty low.

Well I really appreciate the heads up on the BU. They had 7 this morning when I ordered mine, and they were gone within an hour.
As far as the proof-like goes, I have seen some dealers in Europe got them yesterday. Going for about a grand.

I notice APMEX has them in stock again, how much of an increase did APMEX mark these up for? A little more and you can get the PL kilo version at these prices no? 200 tho, is one of the lowest numbers, if not lowest for the kilo BU Libertads isn't it?
