Recently just about April 2017 I started Coin Roll Hunting for
Lincoln Cents. I've found a lot of cool coins a few wheat. After
That I attended my first coin show in August. There I got a few
fillers. Also around that time I learned Canada stopped making
their penny in 2012.

Just recently my 2nd coin show PAN 2017. I am not a silver or gold
guy just a copper guy. I seen so many pennies I wanted to buy them
all. However just left with only a single $1.50 1973s proof. No good
coin grader myself but it wasn't a PCGS or NGC graded. Just a self
graded 2x2 flip.

Either way here's the question for Numismatics or Bullion Collector.
Remembering I just started collecting having very little skill.
Google didn't have an answer for future coin prices but I could
research harder.

Since the elimination of the Canadian Penny in 2012. Has the Numismatics value of the Canadian Penny dropped? If it has dropped
we can expect a drop in the Lincoln Cent. Should this expected
drop keep coin collectors away from the penny?

There is usually a lot of non-collectors who hoard coins that they think might have future value. That's why certain coins are so common.

The 1976 bicentennial coins are a good example.

I haven't noticed any change to the values of the Canadian 1 cent, but as that is not my main area, others should give their opinion too.

I would say that there is no chance of them rising due to scarcity. There will be thousands hoarded by a million different people. I have 1000s. I would be tempted to sell them if I could get 2 cents each.

Nothing is for sure with coin prices but I'm really having a problem getting late date Canadian Cents lately.

I would not expect numismatic values to drop just because a coin is discontinued. (see Two Cent, Three Cent, Twenty Cent Pieces. and all the gold pieces) If there are X number of collectors for Lincolns before they are discontinued there will probably be X number of collectors after they are discontinued. In fact numismatic value may rise at least briefly as more people try to put sets together before they disappear. That happened back in the late 1850's when the large cents were discontinued, people started trying to put a set together while they could.

To CCF , If and when we eliminate the Lincoln Cent it will become even more collectible . Their will be plenty still out there for everyone to collect . Besides my theory is if they stop production of the business strike cent they will continue with proofs, only for collectors in 95% copper .
