@crazyb0, glad to see you getting a little interested in this stuff. Others can comment on pricing, but I would say that the Alexander Tets have been widely faked, so be careful about what you buy. Here is an informative website on them: http://rg.ancients.info/alexander/tets.html

Good advice from Spence, although I suspect this tet is okay. Babylon mint, possibly a very well worn, tiny "MI" in left field near Zeus' knee, wreath with monogram below throne.

I probably wouldn't pay more than $10 for the four LRB's... the emperor on galley FEL TEMP is a slightly more desirable type, but the rest are culls or at least in need of a good cleaning.
I agree that nothing shouts fake about the Alexander tet... I've been watching auctions of these recently and the posthumous types (with Zeus' legs crossed) tend to go for maybe $150-250 in this condition. With bidding at just $40, I would put in a $100 ish bid and see where that gets you.

What would then be the limit on the Tet, sounds High $ item. These are part of a long time collector in Iowa apparently, most of the other stuff has been of fairly good to excellent quality, don't anticipate any fakes, but one never knows anymore, as one cynic said to the other when the Titanic went down...ya know, famous last words... Better watch out, if I hang out here too much I may infect you too...

Thanks Bob, that's what I was wondering. Little too rich for my blood. If any of you want to try here's the auction and site: https://www.proxibid.com/aspr/Alexa...7&rfpb=0#TopJust beware, BP on this is 20%, I usually run fast away from any of these, just that the quality of item has bee good.

I have only one Alexander tetradrachm, in below average condition. Most of the time, there a fair few of these out there for sale. Go for a reputable dealer offering, ebay or otherwise. I would gather information on perhaps 20 to 30 common examples, and graph the sold price VS. grading. I would see where the coin I was considering fits into this graph, and if above or below a line of best fit trend line. A form of due diligence known as 'price research'. NEED to take the date when sold into account, to allow for price trends VS time. Vcoins is a good place to start. Other forms of due diligence include provenance on the coin I would be considering, and authentication.

I agree that the LRB's are a few dollars each. The posthumous Alexander tet is a nice coin, parts of the legend are missing on the reverse which will effect the value a little. Overall though the wear isn't too bad. I would say $200 would be a good value, $250 would be getting very close to the top range.

Yeah, that was a steal for the Alexander tet; the buyer paid too much for the LRB's IMO.
Plenty of other deals out there to be had, though!
