Something I found today. I like these older Soviet coins--they have a much different aesthetic than what came later. There is edge printing that I'll try to translate later.

It's somehow fitting this worker is faceless--either from strike weakness or wear.

G'day, I haven't seen many Soviet coins.
This one seems too pale to be bronze, and GXSeries pic is much lighter still: CuNi ?
I thought that the rouble was divided into kopeks.
Where did/does the Poltinnik fit into the scheme of things ?
That coin has a lot of great art in it. More than I'd have expected from the Soviets in that era.

Peter, it's actually silver 50 kopeks, poltinnik just means half ruble. My photograph wasn't that good at that time and I'm stuck with bad quality photos. I should retake them but I haven't be stuffed to do so.

This is the 1924 ruble

G'day & thankyou,
the 1-ruble has a quality that reminds me of a frame from a comic-strip.
I wonder if the other denominations of that year build a theme ?

Thanks Gxseries--good to know there's a face on better grades!
Btw, my camera tends to oversaturate silver coins, but I'm generally happy with the results.
