G'day, in my humble opinion, this note is the most appealling of all Australian notes. And, it was the first polymer note to circulate. And your reference to "ND": usually, that means "no date", and in this case, you're quite correct to describe it as such. The note has no date on it, and it was made before the abbreviated date was incorporated into the serial number, which didn't start until 1993. But, we know that this note was issued to commemorate the bicentennial of the British settlement of this continent. Peter in Oz

There was a folder issue of this note. All had prefix AA (as opposed to general circulation issues with AB). The folder issue had the a date printed on the obverse (25/1/1988). Some interesting facts about this note. It was the worlds first circulating polymer note. Most were released around the Hunter Valley as a "test" for the use of polymer. The first issue of these notes had a problem where the Capatin Cook hologram rubbed off. These were then replaced by a second issue where the hologram was "plastic coated" which only extended the life of the hologram by a few week.

Got both notes in my personal collection. This is what got me started on polymer currency.

This item 150265728320 on ebay shows the obverse with the date in the top right of the note, scroll down for the picture of the obverse. These first release notes fetch a higher premium than the 2nd release 'no date' ones.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

Very nice...you lucky guy! That's the same note I'm looking for...if you ever find another, I'll buy it from you--I have extra Canadian dollars here I can't use.

Indeed. I'd really love to find this note for my collection. It's the nicest one I've seen out of them all. :)
