With a number of colourised coins that have been issued, how do you feel about them? I have seen a lot of quarters that have some colour on them. Do you collect them with your quarter collection or just stay with the regular coin?

I want Mint products only. Colorization is a post-Mint action. They are not for me.

I love to see them but I dont really collect them. I think they have a positive impact on coin collecting because the media often focuses on them which seems to create a frenzy amongst non collectors and collectors alike.

I don't care for most Mint colorized coins and I consider non mint colorized coins as PSD. John1

They have a lot of coloured .25 and if you collect .25 then you have to collect the coloured ones as well. All the coloured .25 coins put out by the RCM did go into circulation and you can find easy except for this last one the .25 150th Ann. colour having a hard time with this one, the plain one no problem.

Anything released into circulation is fair game for me.

I collect them all. The Caribou go in the regular coins folder. The commem's, which include all the coloured ones, go in another. Hard finds in the wild though.

I'm not a fan of colorized coins, but I think it would be kind of interesting to see the US mint issue a colorized coin for circulation. It might be a good way to attract new collectors.

Not a huge fan of them but since they are circulation coins, into the quarters album they go.

I like some of them and just get the ones I like. The glow in the dark Toonie was a really novel idea.

This is a good thing in the bigger picture. They're not for me, but I can still see their value as "gateway" pieces to inspire the love of collecting in the minds of purchasers who end up curious about what else is out there.

I agree. It is not something that I am interested in, but there is definitely a lot of interest in them. To each their own and to the benefit of the hobby as a whole.

I would agree that they are a good thing, not my key collecting focus, but I still add at least one to my collection. What is really nice about them, is that they provide a low cost entry point to collecting. I would never have started if my only option was generic $0.25 cent pieces that have barely changed in 80 years or high priced Pre 1967 coins.

Personally, I loved the Legendary Nature and the War of 1812 Bicentennial coloureds.
