Im sure its damage probably from a vuce or something but the one sided reeded edge of those gashes threw me off. If I didnt ask someone it would end up being something significant.

Maybe done with a chisel of some sort, if that's what you're asking?

Its a kind of tool, just don't remember exact name those are the marks the jaws leave when clamped. That "reeding" is a knurling effect used to keep object from slipping. Its like a notch cutter, for sheet metals when building air ducts.

Thanks you all. I figured a vice, chisel...tool of some kind but it did kinda look like a coins reeded edges or something. But had to just throw it out there to see what yall thought as well.
