Thinking of it that way, its takes a bit of the sting out of being outbid haha.

Quote: [So many great auctions this weekend and I got my butt kicked on every single lot I bid on. Walked away with a big fat goose egg. Either my coin preferences are improving or the hobby is on fire. Those who talk of it's demise are mistaken. Not after this weekend. I couldn't agree with you more! I went after a couple of pieces in the last 2 Regency auctions, bid very strongly, and came away with nothing. I think the market is certainly all there for nice coins.

What auctions are you guys talking about, if you don't mind? Assuming not ebay.

All the major auction houses. Heritage with their dallas show and part of Eric Newman's collection. Stacks Bowers, Legend. Even David Lawrence and Great collections has some nice coins.

Oh, you *** Edited by Staff | The bad word filter is in place for a reason. Bypassing the filter and making the intended word obvious anyway is completely unacceptable. ***! That is really funny, though.
I'm licking my wounds and watching the Walking Dead.
Momma said no internet for 1 week.

Don't worry. You still have all your money, and you can spend it on something else!

Between this weekend and next to the 17th there is an avalanche of great coins hitting the block.
Usually in a month I might find 3-6 coins I like. Right now my watch lists are bursting at the seems with absolutely must haves.
Bank account is being prepped for a tough month. But the last 6 coins I've bid on I got smashed like a bug.

I'm right there with you, everything I had on watch went for moon money in my opinion. There was one Seated dollar that I had on my watch list that didn't go for stupid money, just more than my budget permitted.

I was watching Legends Regency auction. They had a nice run of Seated dollars in the AU 55-58 range. All were CAC and brought solid to very solid prices IMO.

Hah! Just sold a nice batch of tokens for some serious money and I can now bid like a nut case for those juicy tidbits in my sights. The rest of you shouldn't bid on anything until the 18th

MikeF: You have got the right attitude on how to bid on coins that you may be interested in. I suspect that you may be developing a similar bidding philosophy to mine:- Pick out the cherries that you may be interested in, and submit a single low priced bid. That way, it is far more common to miss out, but that is OK. If you win, then a happy bonus. My hit rate would be below 30%. I am never upset if I loose, but to the contrary: I still have my money to bid on something else at a good price. At least, you know that you are buying good coins at a good price. Just leave the bidding wars to others.
