$2 Coin Mistrike Or Something? Any Thoughts?

coinsguy999 New Member Australia 5 Posts	Posted 11/07/2017 04:09 am Sorry it is kind of hard to get a good image but the coin itself appears to be alot more defined and deeper in its press and around that area of the rim (but a bit lower than the arrow is pointing in coasters post) it does look like its got some sort of a dip in the middle especially when compared to other 2 dollar coins Edited by coinsguy999 11/07/2017 04:15 am Report this Post to the Staff

ace_ftw Pillar of the Community Canada 1747 Posts	Posted 11/07/2017 6:54 pm the OP coin is what is commonly called a MAD coin, Misaligned Die. the coin planchet was not seated correctly between the hammer and anvil dies, when the coin was struck, the flanged edge was outside of the hammer die. In the OP's coin this is a minor example, and would not generate any extra premium on the coin as an error. Report this Post to the Staff
