Hi All,

Is this a double die, or Mechanical Doubling? I don't know if you will be able to see.. pics didn't come out as well as I would like. There is more obvious doubling in the O in One, U and D in United, less so on the other letters.

Obverse, just for clarity:

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

Neither as seen on many coins where nickel is used. The dies deteriorate rapidly and the doubling that you see is a result of the die wear.

The way the metal appears to "radiate" on the surface of the fields is a dead giveaway.

Thanks,
Bill
