I went through some old coin sleeves I had tucked away in some boxes and came across quite a few 1982 Denver mint pennies. Like most people, I still have trouble differentiating between large and small date so I would love any help y'all can give me.

They are all different images. I tried getting the best pictures I could so I hope they help.

It's normal for the large date. You want small date Denver penny to weigh 3.1

All Large Dates. And the weight is normal. 3.1 grams is what all Copper Lincoln cents weights. Worth face value. But you can keep them if you like.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate the help, I have been trying to find an easy way to tell the difference between the small and large dates so I can finally organize the coin sleeves.

I'll steal from Crazyb0 on telling the difference:

There are other markers but, just look at the difference in the shape of the 2 in the date. It's a dead giveaway.

The curve on the "2", on the small date, is the easiest way to tell, imo.

Call me crazy but I like saving the 95% copper Lincolns, for sentimental reasons if nothing else.

I think the smaller 1 from 1982 large date is the indicator for me (though I can convince myself any of these are either example if I look long enough).

Looking again, the wider space between the 2 and the rim on the 1982 small date might be the easiest way to tell. LOL...I think I'm back to confused...

I tried looking at the 1s and 2s but that way isn't for me, they all look the same. I'll try the distance from the rim way next. Lol Thank all of you guys for the help

The distance from the rim is the easiest way to tell the 2 coins apart.(IMHO!)

On the small date the 2 is much further in from the rim than the 2 on the large date.

For me, it's much easier to look at the 2. If it's straight on the downward bit, it's LD. Curvy on the downtroke, it's SD.
