How did this one get by me? Nice, very nice. At this level, I hesitate to grade from photos but I could easily call it 65, at least PL. The scrape between E - P keeps me from thinking it would go much higher, even if the coin technically merited it, because of the high visibility of the mark. However, it has to be restated that this one is nice enough to want in-hand before any definitive opinion. Certainly one of the better Morgans posted here in quite a while. I'm slightly worried about what might be horizontal wipe marks on the obverse - the vertical marks on the reverse are typical of the basining/minting process - but I wouldn't kick it out of my collection.

Yay! I think the marks are actually reflections. I'll try another couple of pictures after you post the PL Morgan picture-taking episode on your Project A720 thread.

From the images provided, I would guess this pup comes in around the ms-65 grade. Can't tell from the photo's whether the mirrors are deep enough to meet todays standards for pl, but it sure looks like a nice coin to me! Sweet!

I have a PCGS MS-66 of this date and looking at yours I would say it may be close but I think falls a little short so I am going to say MS-65. Now to see what others think about the coin

Arrived this morning from PCGS in a shiny holder saying MS-65! This is one of those few coins that would earn a sticker with CAC. Sweet!

Did it get at least PL designation? From what I've seen, this looks like it could make DMPL. Pretty big contrast.

Quote: Did it get at least PL designation? Unfortunately, no. I thought it would at least get that, as well. PL isn't a variety attribution, is it? I didn't request that on this coin when I sent it.

Nah, it just means 'prooflike'. I'm really surprised this didn't even get a PL. I've seen DMPL designated coins kind of like this, if I can remember right.
