While I'm no expert, it surely does not look like a match for a 1944D WDDO-008. To me it is closer to the 1944 D WDDO-028. Closer but I don't think it's a match because this variety is also an RPM that is listed in the Wexler RPM Files as 1944-D 1¢ WRPM-020, a D/D Tilted (Rotated)." From what I can see, yours is neither one. Like I mentioned above, I'm no expert but I'm sure one will chime in soon.

I don't see a match for your coin on any of the usual sites though Wexler does not have photos for all his listings. One thing to remember, if you have a mintmarked Lincoln Cent that is pre 1991 , the mintmark position can be used to identify the obverse die

Was a typo on the DDO-008. It looks pretty close to a DDO-012

I agree it's not #8, because of Mint mark placement. I can't seem to find this listed any where.

I mentioned mintmark position for this reason. Your coin does not match 012

Well I can't seem to find a match either but what would explain the eyelid?

Only that there are no photos of your particular die if it is one of Wexlers non-illustrated listings or it could be an unlisted variety. Nothing wrong with that.

It is a doubled die. So it is a keeper.

@Coop, should'nt the OP send this coin in to get attributed? Or, like mentioned above, it is or may be attributed already and it's one that is non-illustrated?

Depends on the condition of the coin. If it was BU, then it would be a great. If it was damaged, then it might not be worth effort. So depending on condition.

I have a different opinion. If it's unlisted, I would send it in to John Wexler regardless of the coins condition. Your choice though.
Errers and Varietys.
