So I have an unusual coin and I wanted to know more about it. It's a 1974 D Penny with a blank back. I can take a picture of it; but it looks like the back has always been blank (not machined that way). Does this happen to coins? And if so, are there 1974 D's like this? I can't find any info on it. Please let me know if you want the picture.

Thank you!

There is a chance of a true error coin, IF, I stress IF the details on the front are altered in appearance. For the coin to be "planchet like" (flat surface) It would have to be a brockage/struck through reverse die cap (ultra rare) If the obverse is normal, then Little no name with his trusty Dremel is back at it again...

@kfrogg, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with @crazb0 that something similar to what you describe could be possible as a mint error, but we will need pics of both sides to tell for sure.
