2005 - P Dime Missing The "5"

Half of the 5 is only shown and the rim looks fine, is this an error?

Looks more like the metal was moved by the fingers of a coin roll crimping machine -

@antmark3d, interesting coin. It looks to me like part of the number 5 was never struck up (most likely from having some grease in the die, but then the remnant digit was also damaged. Regardless of the exact explanation, your dime is only worth face value.

As already mentioned, the cause is grease. but the reason it look this way on that device might be more interesting. The die was probably wiped down to remove the grease, but pushed the grease into that corner of the device. Probably the operator did not notice that before continuing.

Probably if you use a toothpick under that area of the digits, you will probably find some clear grease there next to the rim. I think I can see on on your image. (great ones at that for a new Coin Community Family member)
