This coin has been relisted numerous times on e-bay. It is NGC-graded as AU details with obv damage. There is a small ding in the left field. This seems awfully minor to warrant a details grade. Perhaps if it were a lower grade it would have passed. I'm wondering if others feel that this coin should have slipped by, too.

There is also a much bigger hit under the truncation of the bust.
Both would not worry me too much, but NGC is right.

I agree with the overall grading, but NGC was too generalized in the description.
I can forgive them for that: - why?
Should have been
"two hits in field", but some descriptions for 'details' for other coins would be MUCH to long to fit in the space provided on the grading label.

Despite my defense of NGC, I am not a great fan of slabs in most cases.

I see the second hit below bust, now. I now think NGC was justified for sure.

A Sammy Marks gold three penny coin of the same obverse Paul Kruger design was used.
The gold Tickey' is rare and valuable.

"Sammy Marks gold Tickey."*

* I think that 'tickey' was a South African slang term for a standard circulation threepence coin.
I have a 22ct gold jeweler's copy, (gold value only), slightly heavier and thicker than the genuine coin.
