So I bought another collection this time it has a few notes this was one I really like it isn't in the greatest shape but it's cool and the military notes have a pretty cool story

I like that. I also like the looks of the one behind it.

Your note is affectionately known as the B Yen. And yes the military notes certainly have a cool story.

Yea, I may be one of the only ones who collects military currencies, don't have that one.

The B Yen was for Okinawa, being Japanese soil. The A Yen were for Japan and Korea.

The purchasing power of 20 Yen in 1945 was pretty good, although not worth nearly as much as a can of soup or tuna fish.

The military currency banknotes for me have a great charm in these conditions. I started a collection but this bill I have not yet been lucky enough to see it in my hand.

B yen was used on the Japanese mainland as well as Okinawa. A yen was used very briefly in Korea before being withdrawn.

A yen was then used as the experimental Military Payment Certificates in Japan and valid only for use by US military personnel at US military establishments prior to MPC being introduced in September 1946. A yen was never used in the Japanese economy.
