Hello! Please help me to identify the following coin. It is 1 Rupee 1840, East India Company, Madras Mint, 13 + 15 Berries, WWR (possibly). Any suggestions?
That's why I am asking about Pridmore catalogue, since I think Krause is superb in American coins, while for others you should use national catalogues.
- W.W. stands for William Wyon, the Chief engraver at The Royal Mint in London. - B stands for Major J.H. Bell, the Mint Master of Madras Mint from Sep 1855 to April 1859.
And, your other attributes about the mint and berries are accurate.
Thank you. True that B is for Bell, however there is a WWR variety exist with a broken bar. I could not find a photo of such a variety, so I have nothing to compare with.
