I purchased a coin collection from someone and was trying to decide if I should get any of them graded. Was considering to get my top 100 coins graded but will see. Anyway I will be posting a bunch of coins. I did my best from referencing the Coins and Canada website but always seem to be off. Please let me know your thoughts and if I get a variety wrong or miss one. I put on the coins 2x2 what I thought the grade might be and variety. Any amounts put on where like that when I got it so you can ignore that. If I end posting too many of these let me know and I'll stop. (note having trouble with optimizer and uploading images. Bare with me.)

It's much easier to grade if you have one coin per pic and out of the 2x2 so the plastic doesn't distort anything.

I agree. A larger clear photo of each coin. With that glare, cannot even see the WL's let alone any detail.

Do not use US grading standards. US grading standards end up anywhere from ½ to 1 grade higher than the standards from the non-US collecting community.

That 51 is an Arnprior variety (1½ waterlines in front of the canoe right side)..and tough to find in high grade..
AU 55 with harsh hairlines unfortunately..A "Details" coin..

What do you mean by a 'details' coin though?

Quote: What do you mean by a 'details' coin though? If a TPG were to grade it, they would add the "Details" designation with a short explanation. In this case, it would probably be "Cleaned" because of all the hairlines that are not consistent with normal wear. Cleaning is probably the most common reason for a Details designation. Environmental damage, like corrosion, would be another reason. I hope that helps.

What do you mean by a 'details' coin though? My guess of AU 55 is just that..it's an opinion that is "far too often" not that accurate. Some here would call it AU 50 or AU 58 and baggie and hairlined. Baggie maybe because it has a lot of (bag) marks on the face and in the smooth surfaces around the bust (ie: the fields) and hairlined because of the possible rubbing that someone did to it. A 51 Arn is still a tough coin..

nice coin. I'd say the 1951 is an AU-50 details due to the harsh cleaning that was done on it.

Which greatly reduces its eye appeal and value, unfortunately.
