I inherited a large collection of coins that had been untouched since the mid-sixties. One of these is the apparent counterfeit nickel.
So, is it legal to own? If so, is there any value?

There wer also some other nice coins: A 1928 D nickel, a few 1863 and 1859 pennies in near mint state, a Roman Agrippa 2 at least that's what the label says.

Looks like a damaged 1910. Not illegal.

it is a real Liberty V nickel, a well placed hit altered the 0, not a counterfeit, worth @ $.35.

Show us your others, The Indian heads in AU, are worth a bit, as long as they're just not cleaned shiny.

Post that Roman Agrippa! Roman imperial and Jewish ruler is quite interesting, interesting period of history...

I agree that it is a 1910 Liberty nickel and the 0 took a hit making it resemble a 3.

Please do post any others that are interesting!

I split your Morgan dollars and Agrippa coin from your other thread, so the discussions don't get mixed and confusing

Obviously an altered date. No value.
So obvious, it wouldn't fool ANY serious nickel collector.
Keep it!
It is the only way you will ever be able to get a '13 Liberty Head Nickel.

I don't have a fake of one of these, but I wouldn't mind adding one to my 'black' collection. I already have an 1804 Dollar, also no value.

Not a hit, a deliberately, and poorly, altered 1910. Guy I knew in Louisville used to make 1913's by altering 1910's, but he did a better job of it.
