I keep going back and forth on this one. S I decided that before I write it off as a spender I would like opinions on it. I can't find any die markers which is one reason why I'm unsure. Thank you for looking.

There are three areas I look for, to match the three varieties of "Elephant" letters, WE is large and mushy on all it seems.

001= Look at how large GOD is, the inside of D

002= You will see doubling at the upper left (NW) of GOD

003= Note the large I, fills up the gap

You coin is a large date zinc. Just normal size for the devices. The devices are large for this coin. Smaller on the small dates:

So it is not just the dates that area affected. The designs are different as well.

It takes seeing them side by side to tell they are different. Note even the bust and other devices are different. Large date confuse a lot of new collectors. Seeing them side by side with a DDO helps you to see that is the case.

"Elephant" letters

That's great analogy Crazyb0!

That is good information, something that I will remember when looking at "Elephant" letters. I really didn't think it was a DDO but I'm thinking that because of the fat letters is what made me question it.
Thank you for the lesson Butch!

@John1, I try to use as much natural light as possible. I'm usually sitting with my back to a window wit the blinds open. If too much light comes in I try or shadow it. I use two different microscopes. 1 for the close ups that has 8 led lights on it and one for whole coin pics that has 4 led's . I usually dim the led's or turn them off completely because they put too much glare on the subject. I've even tried flash lights of different intensities, over head lamps etc.. I have figured out that it's all about the lighting! I just haven't figured out how to manipulate it yet
