Hey - that's pretty cool!! The main quality control with these strikes is the weight (as bullion), so that's why it probably slipped out... looks like it was struck through a piece of tape... Oh yeah, and to CCF!!

Thank you. I think you're right, it does look like struck-thru tape. Now is it worth sending for grading?

Tape, or foil, or something thin enough to allow details to be passed, while remaining uncompressible enough to sink the surface where it touched. Grading is optional here; any additional value derives from a feature which it doesn't take a TPG to point out.

The first thing I thought of was the bottom of the Stanley Cup. Kind of like that new "3D" coin they have.

Beauty! What makes this one so appealing is the size of the Strike through. Its HUGE ! Thanks for showing it to us.

Nice SML error, I like way the radial lines are distorted. Wondering if the weight is good, 1 full ounce. Whatever got in the way, was caught up in the collar die as well.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm going to call it Stanley Cup error, it really does look like the corner of the cup. It's not surprising to me that the coin weighs a full ounce. No portion of the coin was removed, just compressed. The other side looks uneffected. I wonder how rare is this occurrence? I couldn't find anything on ebay or the web
